On October 1st, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Japanese communities, as well as other Asian communities around the world celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. While this festival is also known as the Moon Festival, Lantern Festival, or Mooncake Festival, it celebrates the harvest, and give thanks for the year’s successes.
Sending my best wishes to everyone celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival! Despite the pandemic, we can still give thanks for the harvest and the blessings of this past year - and I know you’ll find new and safe ways to celebrate this special day. https://t.co/mREPDfYKsg pic.twitter.com/Rr43IBryNV

The Mid-Autumn festival is celebrated under a bright full moon, families and loved ones get together, light colorful lanterns, share traditional mooncakes, exchange greetings and gifts, and admire the spectacular beauty of the full moon. This year the celebration will be a little different, like many things, due to COVID-19 but it is my sincere hope in the future we can once again join to celebrate.
