This year, we mark International Day of Democracy on September 15. As the world continues to grapple with COVID-19, our democratic institutions are crucial in upholding the rule of law, maintaining transparency and allowing the free flow of information. Now more than ever, democracy is needed to hold decision makers accountable for their response to the pandemic. Essential elements of democracy include respect for human rights and the freedom of expression, values we uphold in our communities and advocate for around the world. 

Due to COVID-19 we had to adapt to a hybrid form of Parliament to continue operations during the pandemic. Being apart of Canada's virtual sitting of Parliament was also a historic experience.
