Today, we are making a real difference for residents of the Greater Toronto Area and in Scarborough Southwest who ride our city's modern, efficient transit system, that we all agree is one of the best in the world. Today, the TTC introduced 60 electric buses also known as EBuses to their fleet with a charging center located right here in Scarborough Southwest. With my Scarborough Caucus colleagues, Minister Catherine McKenna, and Mayor John Tory we had the opportunity to be on one of the first of the 60 buses now running in the GTA.
Investments in public transit are critical to building healthy, sustainable communities where residents can thrive. By going electric with our public transit, we can ensure that people can get to work, school, and other essential services more easily an reliably, all while preserving our environment.
Back in Scarborough Southwest this afternoon with Minister @CathMcKenna, Mayor @JohnTory and my Scarborough Caucus colleagues to announce 60 new all-electric buses being added to the TTC's fleet. By going electric, we can maintain our environment for generations to come. #ScarbTO pic.twitter.com/9FFbYMTRmO

New federal investment for 60 electric buses in #Toronto -which will make TTC, the largest e-bus fleet in North America. An important step toward electrifying Canada’s public transit system and getting Canadians around in a cheaper, cleaner and faster way. #BuildUp pic.twitter.com/V5xgVaZ44D
