All Canadians have the right to practice their culture or faith without fear. This month, I announced the next round of applications for the Communities at Risk: Security Infrastructure Program. The Security Infrastructure Program is designed to help communities at risk of hate motivated crimes improve their security infrastructure, which will help make Canada safer for all Canadians. Hate-motivated crimes are attacks on fundamental rights and freedoms and on Canadian values of respect, equality and inclusion. They have an impact not on individuals that are targeted but on the community at large.
Funding for the program is available to private, not-for-profit organizations linked to a community at risk of being victimized by hate-motivate crime. Interested organizations representing places of worship, provincially and territoriality recognized educational institutions and community centers can apply through Public Safety Canada’s website.
Are you eligible?
Recipients of this program include: community centres, educational institutions, and places of worship.
