On the night of Thursday, July 30th Muslim communities in Canada and around the world will begin celebrate Eid al-Adha. Eid-al-Adha, marks the end of the holy pilgrimage of Hajj. Due to COVID-19, many people who saved or planned for years to attend Hajj could no longer go. This day serves as an opportunity to reflect on lessons of sacrifice, compassion, and helping those in need.
When celebrating, we ask that you follow the advice of their local, and provincial public health authorities with regards to social distancing, wearing a face mask and restrictions on mass gatherings.
The local South Asian Women's Rights Organization has prepared a virtual Eid Celebration event on August 3rd for all to celebrate. Visit their Facebook page for more information.
