In 2002, under Prime Minister Jean Chretien, the Government of Canada officially proclaimed June 27th as Multiculturalism Day. On this occasion take the time to learn about the diverse cultures across this nation. Diversity is our strength, and our government works hard to provide Canada's diverse and vibrant communities with the resources needed to cultivate inclusion and a sense of belonging.
Today, people with roots all around the world, speaking over 200 languages, are proud to call Canada home. In the wake of COVID-19, many communities have faced undue hardship and racism. We unequivocally condemn all forms of hate and discrimination.
While we aren't able to gather to celebrate this occasion, there are virtual events happening online. In Scarborough Southwest, the Fondation Sylvenie Lindor Foundation will be hosting a cultural presentation followed by a conversation with key-note speakers. To register for the event click here.
